The Montessori curriculum is conceived in three year cycles
in accordance with the child's development: Pre-Primary (birth to 3
years), Primary (3 to 6 years), Elementary (6 to 9 and 9 to 12 years), and
Secondary (12 to 15 and 15 to 18 years).
Each child proceeds through these cycles in a logical
manner based upon his or her stage of development, completing the work
within each phase before moving on to the next, attaining greater competence
at every step along the way. Cooperative learning, interdisciplinary studies, and
Peace Education is implicit in the Montessori curriculum and its manipulative materials.
Elementary Curriculum (ages 6-9 years)
- Language Arts: Writing (metal insets, print/cursive, creative writing, punctuation,
and spelling),
Reading (phonograms, sentence analysis, and SRA reading laboratory),
English Language Study (rhyming, pluralization, contractions, opposites, compound words,
alphabetizing, abbreviations, syllables, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, and grammar).
- Math: numeration, addition, multiplication, subtraction, division, fractions, multiples,
decimals, metrics, and pre-algebra.
- Science: biology - Human Development, rocks and minerals, microscope study, scales, astronomy
(constellations, solar system), and experiments.
- Geography: physical (land form nomenclature, impressionistic charts, experiments in physics),
political (continents, countries of the world and their capitals, research, cultural studies,
and Wonders of the World).
- Botany: classified nomenclature, plant stories, plant charts, and ecosystems.
- Zoology: vertebrate and invertebrate studies, dinosaurs, and Animal Kingdom study.
- History: calendars, time lines, American and Texas history, money, Fundamental Needs of Man,
clock, holidays, and chemistry experiments - formation of the world.
- Art: painting, collage, creativity.
- Practical Life: food preparation, cooking, sewing, and embroidery.
- Music: songs, percussion instruments, metalophone.
- Extra-Curricular: Animal care, Gardening, P.E., Yoga, French, Spanish ("The Rosetta Stone"TM software),
Outreach Programs, and Field Trips.
- After School: Dance & Gymnastics ("Dance on Tour"), Piano ("Music for Little Mozarts"),
Spanish Lessons, and Karate ("Little Dragons").
- Extra-Curricular: Animal care, Gardening, P.E., Yoga, French, Spanish ("The Rosetta Stone"TM software),
Outreach Programs, and Field Trips.
- After School: Dance & Gymnastics ("Dance on Tour"), Piano ("Music for Little Mozarts"),

Primary Curriculum (ages 3-6 years)
- Language: Reading (object sorting, sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet, vowels/consonants, phonograms),
Writing (metal insets, sand tray, chalkboard, printing, capitalization, punctuation, creative writing, SRA reading laboratory).
- Math: numerals, odd/even, greater than/less than, counting to 100 and beyond, addition, multiplication,
subtraction, division, time.
- Science: Geography (physical-land forms, political-maps); Physics (sink/float, magnetism); Biology (external anatomy);
Botany (parts of the plant, leaf, flower), Zoology (vertebrate parts/classification).
- Art: painting, collage, creativity.
- Practical Life: mopping, dish/clothes washing, food preparation, cooking, care of books, dressing
frames, sewing.
- Music: songs, rhymes, clapping games, percussion instruments, metalophone.
- Sensorial: tactile, baric, thermic, olfactory, sterognostic, visual, auditory training (cylinders,
pink tower, brown stairs, red rods, secondary/tertiary color matching, geometry, binomial/trinomial
cube, weights, tablets.
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills: coordination, catching objects, swinging, games, hole-punching, cutting on a line.
- Grace and Courtesy: passing by/making way for someone to pass, asking for something, asking someone's pardon.
- Socio-Emotional Skills: independence, concentration, challenging self, peer/adult relationships, confidence.
- Extra-Curricular: Gardening, Music, Movement, Yoga, Spanish ("The Rosetta Stone"TM software),
Sign Language, Outreach Programs.

Pre-Primary Curriculum (ages 12-36 months)
- Language: Communication-naming body parts/objects, spatial relationships,
correct expression (tenses), classification/matching, name identification, phonics.
- Math: counting, quantity/symbol associations.
- Art: rubber-stamping, coloring, painting, collage, stickers, cutting paper.
- Music: singing, rhyming, clapping games, rhythm instruments.
- Practical Life: caring for the environment (carrying, pouring, cleaning),
caring for self (tooth brushing, face washing, hair brushing/combing, coat hanging, lip/nose care, toileting),
dining (table setting, sponging, sweeping).
- Motor Coordination: gross (walk, run, jump, hop, leap, slide, swing, pedal, throw/catch/lift/push objects, balance),
fine (sort objects, ring/ball insert, open/close containers, bead stringing, bolt tightening, hammering).
- Sensorial: color matching/identification, texture/weight/sound/shape discrimination, water/sand exploration.
- Grace and Courtesy: greeting, shaking hands, classroom etiquette, close a door gently.
- Socio-Emotional Skills: separation/attachment, seeking assistance, helping others, independence, following directions, self-confidence,
relationships (awareness of others' feelings, parallel/cooperative play).
- Science: living/non-living, magnetism, plant care/growth, pet care.
- Extra-Curricular (24-36 months only): Gardening, Music, Movement, French, Spanish,
Sign Language, Library time, Outreach Programs.
- After School: 3-36+ months - Play Wisely TM, 24-36 months - French/Spanish, 30-36 months - Dance & Gymnastics ("Dance on Tour").
